Why is nothing here instead of something?

Brand New Revenue Newsletter #1

What do you see in this picture?

An empty space? A nice day? A need for a gardener?

All are good answers. But I don’t see any of those things. I see a space that represents unrealized opportunity. I see a spot that could become a selfie-magnet. I see a place to create new revenue. And all of that is exactly what I enabled in it.

“That’s fine for there, but what would any of that look like in the space that I have?” I can hear you ask. “And that’s going to cost something, isn’t it? And what makes you think such crazy things?”

All are good questions! With answers that are inherently connected. What it means to see your opportunity realized ultimately depends on you. And yes, budget is part of that, but there’s something much bigger to consider. Turning nothing into something changes people and places for the better.

Which brings things back to me, and to answer that question of why I think this way, it’s because I’m inherently interested in the answer to the question, “why is nothing here instead of something?” And I’m constantly thinking about ways to make that happen by connecting people, places and spaces, both in-person and online.

I want to help businesses and communities recognize and develop these opportunities, no matter their size. It’s something I’ve done with the landmarks I’ve created (and will create as part of 50 Wonders) but have also documented as part of a series of books and videos. In those materials, you’ll see how an otherwise empty patch of grass can instead hold a monument designed to last a millennia. And how such landmarks compel people to stop, take pictures and otherwise engage with the space.

The landmarks I’ve created can be one answer to questions about that kind of engagement, but they also represent a powerful lesson. Because what they look like now isn’t what they started as. The journey to transform your space can be a similar one, because where you end up with it can change people and places for the better. I’ll provide more on that journey in a couple weeks.

Until then, I’m available to anyone that’s looking for more support on their journey to turn nothing into something. Or feel free to send me a message about what other videos and newsletter updates you’d want to see from me in the coming months.
