The Denver Performing Arts Complex Creates Unique Experiences for Residents and Visitors

Arts, Experiences and Beyond

Residing in the heart of downtown Denver, Colorado, the Denver Performing Arts Complex hosts numerous events throughout the year. These events can be experienced on a different level thanks to the monuments and surroundings that define the space, highlighting what it can mean for a landmark to become something much more for residents and visitors.

Arts, Experiences and Beyond

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is one of the largest performing arts centers in the United States. Home to the Colorado Ballet, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Opera Colorado, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ theatrical divisions have regular performances but the actual space is what has proven to resonate in an especially meaningful way for audiences.

The “Man” and “Woman” sculptures that adorn the entrance are especially distinctive. Created by Fernando Botero Angulo, they have been created in his signature style which is known as “Boterismo” that depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume. These pieces are in stark contrast to the “Infinite Energy” sculpture created by Victor M. Contreras that was inspired by the flight of butterflies. The “Dancers” sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky is located at the southwest corner of the complex, while “Coral Sphere” welcomes audiences to the complex on the north side.

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is connected by an 80-foot-tall glass roof, further showcasing what it can mean to connect audiences and an entire space. This connection has allowed it to become an essential element of maps and guides to the city, showcasing what it can mean for a landmark to resonate with a community and across an entire region.

More Than a Performing Arts Center

There are countless performing arts centers across the world, but few are able to enable physical and emotional connections like the Denver Performing Arts Complex. In doing so, the landmark highlights what it can mean for experiences to resonate in the hearts and minds of audiences in the present and for the future.
